ADVERTISEMENT FOR ADMISSION INTO MEDICINE AND SURGERY IN THECOLLEGE OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCES, FUTO

This is to inform the general public that the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) will commence admission of candidates into the Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme during the 2020/2021SUPPLEMENTARY ADMISSIONS. The following conditions apply:
All interested candidates who chose FUTO as First Choice University in the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored a minimum of 220 are eligible to apply.

Those who did not choose FUTO as first choice University but scored a minimum of 220 can also apply on the condition that they visit the JAMB website for a change of Institution to FUTO and course to Medicine &Surgery only on JAMB CAPS not later than May 10th, 2021.

UTME subject combination of English Language, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics is applicable in addition to possession of at least five (5) O’Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics and Biologyat onesitting.

Application commences on Monday 3rd May, 2021 and closes on Monday 10th May, 2021.

Mode of Payment and Registration Procedure
Eligible candidates would be required to pay a processing fee of Two Thousand Naira (N2, 000.00) only.
To register, follow the steps outlined below:

a) Visit the University website: www.futo.edu.ng
b) Click on the link ‘Prospective Student’
c) Click on the link; ‘College of Medicine and Health Sciences Application’
d) Enter your JAMB Registration Number to generate Payment Invoice containing the Remita Retrieval Reference Number (RRR).
e) Proceed to any Bank with the payment invoice OR simply pay with your ATM Card.
f) Return to the Application page and enter your JAMB Registration number again.
g) Proceed with the completion of the form.
h) Correctly enter your O’Level result details and grades
i) Confirm your entries.
j) Submit your application and print out your acknowledgement slip.
k) Await further communication from the University

Nature of the Screening Exercise
Eligible candidates will be invited for an Aptitude Test on a date to be communicated soon. The date and time of test for each registered candidate shall be communicated through the registration slip which would be printed by the candidate through the University portal.

Venue:
Venue for the Aptitude Test is the University C.B.T. Centre, located at FUTO ICT Centre

NOTE:

  1. You must enter a valid mobile number and e-mail address for further communications. During registration, candidates are advised to use GSM numbers that are easily accessible to them. This is important for fast and easy communication.
  2. You must have uploaded your O’Level results on JAMB PORTAL. Only candidates uploaded to the University Portal by JAMB shall be admitted into the screening venue.
  3. Those who fail to register within the period WILL NOT be qualified for the Exercise.
  4. Any candidate who fails to successfully submit his application online would automatically lose his/her chance of being considered for admission.

LENTEN OUTREACH 2021

HOLY ROSARY HOSPITAL EMEKUKU FREE MEDICAL TREATMENT

As part of our Lenten exercise. Holy Rosary Hospital Emekuku will visit enlisted parishes to care for the sick. Our medical outreach scheme is large, stretching from: child care consultations, youth related health challenges, maternity pregnancy check-up, and care for our elderly.

However, we have its special package for our pregnant mothers. This package is called Lenten Holy Rosary Hospital pregnant mother’s bonanza. This bonanza is to help families to reduce the economic effect of Covid-19 pandemic among families and pregnant mothers.

Furthermore, the following Lenten pregnant mother’s bonanza is obtainable at Holy Rosary Hospital Emekuku.

1. Free card and registration for antenatal exercise except for emergency consultation, which you have to pay for.

2. Free bed and accommodation for five days after delivery, however you need to pay for your drugs.

3. 50% charge for safe delivery and C.S delivery

4. 50% charge for myomectomy (surgical removal of fibroid) and free bed for 5 days.

5. You will need to buy and pay for your drugs and food.

On this note we shall visit the following parishes for special Lenten Medical Care. For which consultation fee and card fee are free but patients will pay 50% for their drugs.

Computer tomography is a Radio diagnostic modality that combines a series of x-rays taken from different angles and plans around the body and uses a computerized technology to create cross sectional images or slices of bones, soft tissues and blood vessels in the body.

Why we need CT- SCAN?

A computed tomography scan (CT-Scan) can visualize the below organs:


· THE HEAD: CT- scan can be used to assess head injuries.

· THE SHOULDER: it can be used to view all tissues in the shoulder

· THE SPINE: during spine ache and injuries, CT-scan helps locate the point of ache and nature of injuries

· THE HEART: CT scan can reveal all tissues of the heart in case of heart diseases.

· THE ABDOMEN: CT scan is used for abdominal pain and repair.

· THE KNEE: CT scan can be used for arthritis and knee pains.

· THE CHEST: for chest examination, CT-scan is used.

What more can computerized Tomography ( CT-Scan) give?

DIAGNOSIS: the CT-scan helps doctors to be sure of the right diagnosis for diseases like pneumonia, tumors, tuberculosis, emphysema, colon cancer etc.

MONITOR DISEASE PROGRESSION: with CT- scan, diseases cancer can be better monitored.

TREATMENT: CT-scan ensures treatment effectiveness in inflamed colon, appendicitis, diverticulitis and abscesses.

GUIDE: CT scan guides procedures such as surgery, biopsy and radiation therapy etc.

PREPARATIONS FOR A CT SCAN

· There is no big deal in preparing for CT-SCAN. It depends on what part of the body is to be scanned.
· Patient may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
· Patient may be asked to remove metal objects, such as belts, jewelry, eyeglasses which might interfere with image results.
· Patient may be asked never to eat anything a few hours before the scan.
· Patient may be asked to swallow a liquid that contains contrast material especially for esophagus/ stomach scan.
· Contrast materials may be injected to help gallbladder, urinary tract stand out etc.
