Bishop Amatu visits Queen of Peace Church Umuariam Obowo

Confirms 70 faithful, commends synergy with priests

The Queen of Peace Catholic Church Umuariam Obowo was agog with joy, Sunday July 4, 2021, as the Catholic Bishop of Okigwe Diocese, Most Rev. Solomon Amatu arrived the community on a pastoral tour of the parish.

Received on arrival by the Church Rector, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Cletus Madu and the Parish Council executive, the prelate had on his retinue, the Vicar General II of Okigwe Diocese, Rev. Fr. Dr. Bartholomew Nnaemedo, the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Chibuike Okeagu, Financial Administrators/Consultants, Rev. Frs. Cletus Ehiem and Livy Iroh, Fr. Patrick Uchego (Deputy Chancellor) and more.

Addressing the faithful, Bishop Amatu commended them for the prevailing peace in the Ecclesiastical entity, co-operation among the priests and the faithful, which he noted has engendered consistent growth of the parish even in the face of global economic recession. The prelate noted the visible growth of the faith and evident structural transformation and saluted the parish priests for good leadership and sound initiative.

Highlight was the administration of the sacrament of confirmation on no fewer than seventy qualified candidates after an extensive examination.

In an address, the parish assured the prelate of continued loyalty, described their priests as a strong blend of pleasant and disciplined character, enumerated the feats achieved recently to include the renovation of the CWO Hall, a new CYON Secretariat work in progress, a CMO Shopping Mall etc, and requested for equitable re-grading of the parish, currently rated higher than its population. The piece read by Mrs. Stella Azuogu (Parish Secretary) was jointly signed by Rector Fr. Madu and Comr. Chuks Nduka (PPC) respectively.

In a vote of thanks, the Rector, Fr. Cletus Madu thanked the visiting prelate for coming. He appreciated Fr. Basil Ajaero (Parochial Vicar) for working conscientiously for the success of the visit. He appreciated the financial assistance from some illustrious sons of the land including Anselm Chiadi (aka Onowu), Chikezie Eusebius, Laz Mbamara, et al. His gratitude also went to the catering group led by Miss Ofoha Ndidi, the entire parishioners for unity of purpose, his brother priests from contiguous parishes among them are Fr. Callistus Agu (SMMM), Fr. Ibe Kennedy, Fr. Alex Onyemata to name only a few.

One of those confirmed Mr. Francis Chinecherem on behalf of others, thanked the Bishop, Most Rev. S.A. Amatu, the Rector, Very Rev. Fr. Cletus Madu (aka Pashanga), his curate, Fr. Basil Ajaero for working it out for them.
