It was celebration galore as Sir & Lady Kizzy Ajaelu, were joined by their children, friends, family members and well-wishers on the occasion of their Silver Jubilee Wedding anniversary and the Golden Jubilee birthday celebration of the wife, Lady Amaka Ajaelu, held at Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri August 29.
The Cathedral Administrator, Rev. Fr Clement Odoemena presided over the Eucharistic celebration assisted by Rev. Fr. Martin Agu.
Highpoint of the Mass was when the couple in the presence of God’s people renewed the marital vows they took in 1996.
Preaching at the Mass, Rev. Fr Odoemena, dwelt on what he called the “Divine will and human instructions”
According to him, “God tells us to live in accordance with the divine will and that’s the life we live in heaven, not according to human desire which is the life we are living here on earth.”
He charged the congregation not to incline to human traditions, warning that, “human instructions devoid of godliness will lead to destruction”
After the Mass all roads led to the residence of the jubilarians for the reception during which guests were treated to varieties of sumptuous meals with “Old School” music taken from the ’80s and ’90s in which the celebrants thrilled their guests to some great dance steps.
Highlights of the phase two of the celebration were the cutting of the silver wedding and golden birthday anniversaries cakes.
The celebrants, Sir & Lady Kizzy Ajaelu shared their joy with our reporter.
They expressed their excitement and appreciation to God and friends who joined them in the celebration.
According to them their marriage has not been all that rosy but they were grateful to God for the sweet parts of it which are more, adding that the celebration was that of love, sacrifices, perseverance and the numerous favours the union has brought them.
“We have not had any reason to be apart from each other for one day. The 25 years have been complete 25 years, no holiday. Marriage itself is not a child’s play. Because you really have to be committed for it to work. In every marriage if there is no submission, no respect, no sacrifices, no endurance it will not work out. All these were not lacking in our marriage, that is the secret of our successful marriage.”
“Marriage is not a bed of roses, even roses have torns if you think it’s all rosy. Be ready to accommodate one another in their shortcomings. Try to emphasize more on the good things and it will overshadow the bad ones and you move ahead”, they admonished young couples
